paradoxical isolation

i-so-lay-shun
in times of plague and misery we live
social distancing they call it
an euphemism for lonely existence
in the deepest depths of which
lies a paradoxical feeling
a desire to go deeper
a desire to be more alone
a desire to cut oneself from all social ties
a isolation of mind
a mind so exhausted
it seeks refuge in the deepest voids
seeking solace from the misery
by becoming one with the void
a ghost in the cold winds
devoid of existence’s burdens
finally free
